Facts About Anorexia
For some reason our culture drives people,
especially highly visible people like Movie/TV stars, to starve
themselves for the sake of beauty. This driven pressure is
not an overnight transformation but rather an eating disorder that
was brought one by some level of peer pressure.
So how can it be stopped? The best way is to
get the proper treatment for those currently suffering. And
education for the public at large to reduce their wants for thin
stars or friends. It must be understood that an eating
disorder becomes a psychological problem that has devastating
effects on a healthy human body.
So when comments from people that could be
considered picky; others could try to appease those criticisms by
losing weight in an unhealthy manner.
Once the problem of an eating disorder begins to
show, the very people that started the whole problem start
justifying the look as "an attention getter" or "find a better diet
because what you are doing is not working for you". Does
either of those sound constructive?
Absolutely not!
The real problem originated in the minds of the
people who imposed their own selfless opinions on someone who were
already self-conscious about their weight and for some reason
thought that the critiquing person was worth sacrificing their
health over.
But do not think that this is just a girls
problem. There is a growing concern about young men
developing eating disorders. Now take this another step
further when you see that some of these young men are also taking
steroids for bulking up.
When will it stop?
Today, more and more men are finding out about the
social pressures that girls have long experienced when it comes to
weight control or even the looks factor. Imagine how it feels
to have a body that you have criticized to the point that you are
sickened by seeing your own image in a mirror as being fat or
over-weight.
In reality, a lot of people have high metabolisms
which enable them to eat virtually anything and burn it off as fast
as they consume it. Other people eat a slice of bread and
they end up gaining a pound. It is this very struggle that
pushes women as well as men to a point of attaining an eating
disorder.
Whether deliberate or not having an eating disorder
will be a definite blow to an individual’s health. The
quality of their life will start to go down and can reach a point
where death is inevitable.
If you are one of these people, whether male or
female, then know that help can be gotten. No one is beyond
help!
You must recognize that life should not be
controlled by the choices of food that you eat or don't eat.
Nor should you rely on people that strive to have an adverse effect
on you.
So whether you binge then purge or you starve
yourself. There are going to be sacrifices. Is Death
the answer?
Anxiety, stress, and peer pressure are just a few
of the social pressures that are placed on all of us at one point
or another. But be re-assured that there is help. But
you must want that help.
Do not use food as a crutch or comfort agent.
If you are deep into an eating disorder, seek help before it
becomes too late. Your life is worth so much more!
